核分裂と核融合の違いくらいは憶えていた方がいいかもしれないね。
・核分裂
大きな原子核(ウランなど)にエネルギーを与えて2つの原子に分裂させる時に生ずる
質量差異がエネルギーになる
メリット：与えるエネルギーは非常に小さくて済む
デメリット：燃料がある一定量を超えると勝手に分裂する(この制御がとまらない場合、
臨界と言う)
・核融合
2つの小さな原子(水素など)にエネルギーを与えて1つの原子に融合した時に生じる
質量の差異がエネルギーになる
メリット：臨界質量というものは存在しない
デメリット：反応を起こすのに膨大なエネルギーと非常に整った条件が必要
ちなみに太陽を始めとした星は全て核融合で光っていると言われる。
核融合に必要なエネルギーは星自身の重力に由来する、と考えられている。

わかりやすく言うと、
・核分裂反応
ちょっと触られただけでフィニッシュしてしまう状態
出ないように萎えないように、加減をし続ける高度なテクニックが必要
・核融合
ずっと擦り続けないと萎えてしまう状態
やばい、出る！と思ったら手を離すだけで沈静化するので安心
